I’ve heard you can use a computer power supply to power up an aftermarket car stereo in home.. I need to power up a car stereo from DUAL to test it. The old power supply I have is from a compaq, and it does not have a on/off switch… what wires would I need to splice and connect from the stereo to the psu?

I bought a new car stereo and want to wire it up with 2 speakers and power it with a generator. What materials will I need and how do I go about hooking it all up? BTW, The trailer camper does not have any previous sound system wiring in place, just electrical wiring.

I would need to turn the amplifier on and off with the car, as if with a car stereo deck. Any options would be greatly appreciated.

I have an alpine cda 9813 car stereo. It is a 60 x 4. When I turn the volume up to about 20 on the stereo all of the 6 x 8 speakers and tweeters shut off. The subs still work though. I have tried hooking up a few different speakers to see if they will work but they all shut off.

Could there be a problem with the cd player output or could it be that the 6 x 8’s just don’t have enough watts for what the stereo is pushing??? Any ideas….thanks!

I have Ford Fiesta 07 plate and one stupid minded day i accidentally connected my sub with the engine running. Now my car stereo, the speedo and other gauges all have a delay where they just don’t switch on.

can anyone tell me if there is a simple way of solving this problem before calling an Auto electrician?

I have Pioneer DUH-p4000ub car stereo and a couple of times, when I started the car, the radio was just dead. I brought it into the dealer, the fuses and power in the car were alright, but when they reset the radio by removing it, the stereo worked again. I imagine it’s going into safety mode? Can this be because I’m using my car’s (protege 2002) original speakers and that they are measuring 4.4 ohms instead of 4? Please help! Thanks!

I am soon to get a used car, but I am unsure if its stereo will or not. However, I will replace the stereo regardless of its condition.

My question is: What is the best car stereo (brand or type) to get?
