I just bought a HP Photosmart C6380 All-in-one wireless printer. We only have dial up available on our laptop. Is there a way to use the wireless feature on our laptop without a router? I am not familiar with how routers and wireless works. So please bear with me if I don’t make since with how I asked my question.

I just bought a wireless printer and I don’t want anyone else in my house using it. If I put a password on my wireless does that mean they can’t use it? They don’t normally use the wireless they use a direct cable. So if I put a password on no one can use it right? How do I add a password to my wireless?

I am trying to decide whether to buy a wireless printer or a wireless print server. I want to be able to turn off my desktop PC which hard wired to the router when I am not using it. BUT I would still like to be able to print from my laptop which is wireless and accesses the router. I hope this makes sense.
